I recently had the honor to be a guest on “Tea Time with Terry Ann.” We first discussed how Knit Me Sew Me came to be. All the credit goes to my mom, Elaine, who taught me how to #knit and #crochet when I was 13, and it was her suggestion that I start a business to share my expertise and unique products with the world.
Terry asked about Lucky Ducky and how he became Knit Me Sew Me's “mascot.” I explained how during a #networking event I told someone that I was going to Europe. She suggested that I take a product, so I decided to take Lucky Ducky. He turned out to be the hit of the trip. (Hop on over to the “Lucky Ducky Goes to Europe” playlist on YouTube to see his adventures.)
We talked a great deal about time management, especially as it relates to being a #solopreneur. Asking for and getting help is one of the keys, as it’s virtually impossible to do it all. I have a wonderful social media guru, Kim, and a talented knitter, Alyssa, who both help me. Their contributions are invaluable. Setting up some guard rails to help manage time really helps as well. It’s impossible to do everything in one day, so cutting yourself some slack is imperative. It’s also so important to get a good night’s sleep to recharge your body and your mind. Once my head hits the pillow, it’s a reset.
Another topic was customer service. I have worked in retail throughout my life, and have seen the non-existent customer service in today’s retail establishments. That will never work for Knit Me Sew Me, as you always will receive personal customer service, whether you are shopping at an in-person boutique or on the online store. Knit Me Sew Me’s products are 100% handmade in the USA. Giving a handmade gift shows that you really care.
