Knit With Me Sew With Me

Updated: Feb 14

Knit to Live!! Want to relax and reduce stress? Are you tired of being sluggish and depressed? Then, starting knitting! You’re probably thinking that this a joke, but it’s not. Studies show that knitting provides tons of health benefits. For me, and even though I now do this for a living, the repetitive and rhythmic motion is so relaxing. An added feature is that when you are done, you have a beautifully completed project that you made yourself.

Knitting groups have formed all over the world. Knowing that you’ll be interacting with others who love to knit, you’ll be part of a huge community. Knitting groups are not just for knitting as you’ll connect with like-minded people who you can build friendships. From experience, I can tell you that in a lot of instances, the group talks more than knits! Add a glass of wine, and it’s a wonder that anyone gets anything done! That’s the beauty of this. It’s not just about the knitting. It’s meeting new people, sharing tips and tricks and making new friends. With social media, it’s so easy to do posts of projects in the works and those that are finished. You can get help and ask for advice. YouTube is especially helpful.

So, pick up some yarn and a pair of needles and knit! You will feel so much better and have a wonderful handmade project to boot!

Knit to Live - Part 2!!

Wow! I just found another article on the benefits of knitting. If you are needing to relax and kick back, knitting may be perfect for you! Take it from a Type-A personality who has two speeds (hyperdrive and off!), knitting has made a world of difference for me! It actually helps me slow down and “take a load off.” The article from Sheep and Stitch reviews six unexpected benefits of knitting, and they are all health-related. Happy reading!

Owl Hats are a Huge Hit! When I first started making these, I never believed how popular the Owl Hats would become. So much so, that they now come in Adult sizes in addition to 3-6 months, 6-12 months, Toddler/Preschooler and Child. The four colors are amazing. Choose from Aqua, Forest, Lavender and Soft Rose. Dress your children and yourself in the ultimate of cuteness with these handcrafted beauties!

What’s on my needles? It’s an Aran Tweed Belt Welt Hat. (You can even see part of the pattern behind the hat; and yes, there are lots of scribbles!) This hat is worked from the bottom to the top, on round needles, which took a bit getting used to. Now that I’ve been using them for quite a while, I absolutely love them! One huge advantage of using round needles is that there is no seam! If you turn the hat inside out, there is no seam in there either. Find this Belt Welt Hat in Aran Tweed, as well of lots of other colors, on the website.

And finally

On this Memorial Day, may we all remember those who have served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. May we be thankful for our freedoms and those who continue to keep us safe and protect us. May we realize that we are all different and to appreciate those differences. There is so much we can all learn from each other.

In Memory of Many, In Honor of All. Thank You.
To Honor America

Until next time!
