Lucky Ducky Goes to Europe Again - Part 5
I made it to Bucharest, Romania! I visited the Palace of Parliament. It’s the largest parliament building in the world!! The architecture is stunning, and the building is huge!!
Not only did I have a great view of this historic church, I found some beautiful Romanian eggs as well (probably laid by one of my ancestors!). Each one is unique in pattern and color. Mom, Alise, from Knit Me Sew Me will absolutely love these one-of-a-kind beauties! The Romanian Atheaeum is a concert hall in the center of Bucharest and built on the existing ground on which a circus was supposed to be built, hence its circular shape. This historical monument was almost entirely built through private funding. Opened in 1888, the ornate, domed building is the city's most prestigious concert hall and home of the George Enescu Philharmonic and of the George Enescu Festival, named for the famous Romanian composer, violinist, conductor and teacher.
The Church of the Stavropoleos Monastery was built in 1724. One of the monastery’s constant interests is Byzantine music, expressed through its choir and the largest collection of Byzantine music books in Romania. The monastery’s library has over 8,000 books of theology, Byzantine music, arts and history. There are also more than 80 manuscripts and 400 printed works.
I loved these beautiful walkways that go throughout the city. The outdoor cafes were lovely.
